People with a learning disability are increasingly using mainstream services such as housing, employment, health, and advice and support services.
Under the Equality Act 2010 services are now required to make reasonable adjustments and all organisations that provide NHS or adult social care must follow the Accessible Information Standard by law.
Building Bridges Training delivers a one day training event on making reasonable adjustments for people with a learning disability.
The practical training day covers:
How to identify if someone has a learning disability who uses your service
Understanding the daily challenges people with a learning disability experience
How to engage with people with a learning disability and creating rapport
Practical tools and tips for communication
How to support people make and keep appointments and implement follow up actions
Understand how to manage issues of consent in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005
