BVSC research presentation

On Tuesday 28th October 2025, Building Bridges presented their work about inclusive research to the research team at BVSC in Birmingham city centre. We shared examples from recent projects and our future plans.

We shared some of our accessible icebreakers and ground rules, that can be used doing research with community groups. We unpacked the meaning of ‘inclusive research’, and the different roles in the research project that people can do, with support. Then we shared part of our presentation about reflections on our school days and findings from our Research Better Together funded project, where we ran world café meetings with 3 groups in Birmingham and Wolverhampton. We also shared with the team our portfolio of the easy read resources for people with a learning disability that we have co-created. We shared some stories about how the need for some of the resources had come about, based on our lived experience. We had a great discussion about how accessible communication benefits everyone, and helps everyone in the community to feel accepted and welcome.
