Good practice resources for staff

Building Bridges has developed a range of good practice information and resources for staff who support people with a learning disability. These include:

Dictionaries/ word banks

These support staff to explain complex words and terms to people with a learning disability; we can produce further dictionaries by request.

  • Church and Christian faith words.

  • Money and banking words.

  • Learning disability policy and practice words.

  • Violence against women and girls words.

Guides

  • Facilitating good meetings involving parents with a learning disability – what to do before, during and after a meeting.

  • Producing easy read information – the basic principles of how to make easy read information.

  • Supporting people with a learning disability who use your service – a guide for people in mainstream services.
