We have two fantastic training opportunities coming up this autumn — designed to help professionals and organisations improve the way they understand, communicate with and support people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
Autism Awareness Training
Wednesday 14 October 2026 | 2.00pm–3.30pm | Online via Microsoft Teams
This interactive session is co-delivered by two autistic trainers and explores autism from a lived-experience perspective.
The session will cover topics including:
Understanding autism, stereotypes and myths
Sensory overload and special interests
Communication
Friends and relationships
Reasonable adjustments
Stress, anxiety and meltdowns
Key legislation, including the Autism Act 2009

Easy Read Training Day
Monday 7 December 2026 | 10.15am–3.45pm | NCVO, London
Learn how to create clear, accessible Easy Read information that people with learning disabilities can understand and use.
The full-day, co-delivered training will include practical opportunities to create Easy Read information and receive feedback from members of Building Bridges.
You’ll explore:
What Easy Read is and why it matters
Making written information easier to understand
Fonts, layouts and images
Easy Read letters, reports and health & safety notices
Accessible meetings, agendas and ground rules
Accessible maps and signage
Cost: £165, including lunch and refreshments.
Places are available for both training sessions.
