Stories of Citizenship - a new book coming soon in 2023

Building Bridges Training • Sep 17, 2022

This new book will tell the stories of people with a learning disability who have done work to make sure they and others get their rights.

The book is being written in 2022 and you can buy it from Easter 2023. The UNCRPD (United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) came about in 2006. But in the UK a lot of learning disability services and professionals do not know about it.

Stories of Citizenship

The stories in this book will help people who read it to understand that people with a learning disability do have rights.

It will encourage people with a learning disability to make sure they keep fighting to get their rights and be full and included citizens where they live.

The stories will be about good ideas that have worked, told by people with a learning disability themselves. Each chapter will have a part written by an academic who

works at a university.
